Who Commits Click Fraud?
Competitors - A competitor of yours wants to drain your marketing budget, and potentially cause you to pull out of PPC advertising. He / she knows about how much you pay per click, and know that a few clicks per day can cost you hundreds or thousands of dollars over the course of a year. They may click themselves, have friends or employees click or use software to click your ads.
Publishers - Many web publishers have advertising syndicated by PPC companies such as Google, Overture, Kanoodle etc. These publishers earn a share of the revenue coming from clicks on these ads. In order to make money, publishers fraudulently generate clicks on their own ads.
Generally Bad People - Disgruntled employees (or ex-employees), annoyed customers or plain old mean people know that they can easily take money from your pocket by clicking on your ads.
